MA in Behavioral Economics at IDC Herzliya

A first-of-its-kind MA program in the field of decision-making, which began to receive particular recognition after Kahneman (2002) and Thaler (2017) were awarded the Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences for their related works.The program integrates aspects of economics and psychology, and provides insight into economic policy and social change, which attempts to answer questions that concern us all: What factors influence our decisions when we take economic risks? Do we use emotion or logic when making decisions? What are the forces that affect the way we make decisions under conditions of uncertainty?

About the Program

  • A unique, one-of-a-kind program in Israel that offers profound theoretical knowledge in Psychology and Economics, as well as state-of-the-art public policy tools.
    All classes taught in English.
  • Combines insights from social sciences, to generate an additional dimension to the understanding of human behavior and how it can be improved.
  • Provides practical tools for implementing public policies and behavioral interventions, aimed at helping individuals and societies break through their potential inefficient.

Program Highlights:

  • Nine mini-semesters (6 weeks each) over the course of two academic years.
  • Students with no background in Psychology and/or Economics will be required to complete prerequisite courses during the first mini-semester.
  • The program includes a research track (thesis) and non-thesis track (final project). Student must select their preferred track by the end of the 4th mini-semester.
  • Applicants can have a B.A. in any field, and must have a grade point average of at least 80.
  • Courses will be given 2 days a week: Sundays 16:00-21:50, and Fridays, 8:00-13:00.
